  • 2009 – 2012 - created a stronger VCC with members representing diversity of communities of practice, culture and geography within Nova Scotia

    • reviewed our historical information
    • reviewed the Canadian Standards and Guidelines (S&Gs) to identify which standards are measurable, and how one might measure or "prove" each standard and
    • affirmed that certification based on the S&Gs is the best way to go
    • started to meet with government agencies and stakeholders with knowledge of the S&Gs and certification
    • prepared a draft working document of what courses, experience, etc. can be used to prove competencies
    • reviewed the certification processes in other provinces and started to outline our own process
    • started the discussion on Assessors – who, how and when
    • produced communications for the NSCDA Newsletter, and AGM
  • liaised with NSCDA Board and the NSCDA Conference Committee, 2011 and 2012
  • 2012: prepared and submitted funding proposal to NS Department of Labour & Advanced Education – Employment Nova Scotia LMA Special Project Fund.

  • The CTHRC retained to pursue the design of the assessment model (and alignment with the core competencies), and to develop a sustainable business model for the NSCDA.
  • Agreement with NSCC to provide Competency Assessor Training
  • December 2013: Completion of the  NS CDP Core Competency Profile and A series of Assessment Tools as well as certification sustainability document Pathways to Success for the NSCDA
  • January – March, 2014: by-laws and policies around certification drafted; candidates and Assessors’ guides drafted; outreach begun;
  • May, 2014: Presentation and workshop on Certification Program and application process held during NSCDA annual conference
  • May 2014: first 4 Assessors graduate from NSCC program
  • June 2014: second group of Assessors graduate from NSCC program
  • June 2014: call for participants in pilot program issued
  • July – August 2014, 2014: Pilot participants chosen
  • September, 2014: Credentialing process begins.
